We recently purchased V50 (2005) and during the few hot days we had last month i discovered that the air-con wasn't working. I presumed that it was empty so I booked the car into Kwik-Fit to recharge it and test it for leaks and £50 later I had the car back with ice cold air-con, apparently it was Volvo V50 2 Litre Diesel 2008 - Volvo V50 - low idle, no throttle response. I have a 2008 V50 2.0 diesel that has done around 105,000 miles. I have an intermittent problem where when I turn on engine it has low idle and no throttle response. Failure of the fan will not prevent the compressor from engaging. In the case of a fan failure, the compressor would still start and run for a while until the condenser became heat soaked.
